Potentials and limits of the Hybrid-Excitation Permanent-Magnet (HEPM) synchronous machine are dealt with in this paper. A six-pole is taken into consideration, both parallel series configurations analysed compared. Taking advantage rotor excitation coils, permanent magnet (PM) flux can be adjusted according to operating speed improve its performance parameters. The electro-magnetic force first harmonic complete shape. Moreover, a comparison between analytical numerical formulation has been done for current control. In particular, range extended, electro-mechanical torque power increased, as well efficiency.
